As an Urban Planner and/ or Planning assistant with RGC, you will have the opportunity to work on projects in the public and private sectors such as new development plans, community design plans, mixed-use developments, official plan reviews, public consultation and infrastructure planning.

Urban design, diligence reports, public approvals are key services that the firm provides.

In addition, the position can be tailored to suit an individual with experience in a specific area of practice.

Your Key Responsibilities (Varies with either posting)

  • Manage the processing and approval of development applications; including Official Plan Amendments, Zoning Bylaw Amendments, Site Plan Applications, minor variances and consent applications, and Plans of Subdivisions;

  • Utilize your knowledge of provincial and local planning policy in the preparation and management of planning policy studies for public sector clients;

  • Prepare comprehensive plans and manage complex design projects;

  • Manage and organize public consultation programs including making recommendations of key findings to the client;

  • Lead marketing initiatives including strategic planning, opportunity identification, proposal pursuit and preparation, client liaison, preparation of online marketing content, and social media monitoring;

  • Maintain and strengthen client relationships and play a key role in client management and satisfaction;

  • Plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate the technical aspects of projects for the team;

  • Supervise, coordinate, and review the work of other professionals who assist in specific assignments;

  • Perform due diligence and research on projects as required;

  • Coordinate with clients, agencies, and others to obtain and determine project requirements and approvals;

 

Your Capabilities and Credentials (Varies with either posting)

  • In-depth knowledge of planning policies and processes in Ontario;

  • Experience processing planning applications in Ontario (GTA)

  • Experience presenting before Planning Committees, Committees of Adjustment, and preferably the OMB/LPAT;

  • Highly effective in assembling and leading multi-discipline teams on complex projects;

  • Demonstrated ability to readily identify potential problems on a project;

  • Efficient project management of multiple concurrent projects;

  • Highly effective in building and maintaining client relationships;

  • STRONG ORGANIZATIONAL AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, CAD, Sketchup, GIS mapping, and Excel Charting;

 

Education And Experience

Bachelor’s or Master’s Planning degree, or equivalent.

Member in Good Standing as a RPP, OPPI, CIP

Eligibility for membership or, current member with CIP/OPPI, and a minimum of 2 years of experience in the land development field.
